The Fiber Laser Cutting Head That Changed The Game

Eva Cutting Head

The cutting head is the most important component of a fiber laser cutting machine, as it must withstand the harshest conditions while remaining 100% stable. Our patented eVa head is unique on the market. Thanks to its intelligent design with only three wearing parts, it experiences five times less contamination than any other head available.

Because the cover slide is positioned 355 mm above the nozzle—the largest distance of any head on the market—it requires ten times less frequent replacement of the protective glass. Its state-of-the-art technology ensures precision even at peak speeds and ultra-high power levels. The eVa also requires minimal maintenance, and most servicing can be carried out by the customer—without the sneed for an Eagle technician.

The cutting head is the most important component in the laser system
and determines both the performance and the reliability of the machine.
EAGLE eVa cutting head has been painstakingly developed by our
engineers to operate at more than 30kW, and fulfills the demand for
ultimate reliability. This is our response to market demand for the most
efficient, reliable, powerful machines.
Purity – eVa is the first cutting head in the world to provide automatic
centering and laser beam control without moving parts within the head.
The most common cause of cutting head failures is contamination
coming from the outside, and motorized lens movement. The internal
cleanliness significantly increases the lifetime of the head and the optical
elements.
Wearing parts – Only 3 wearing parts are required: the cover slide, the
cover slide seal and the cutting nozzle. The eVa cutting head is the
cheapest cutting head to operate, and is easy to maintain by the operator.
The cover slide is positioned 355 mm above the nozzle in systems with
ultra-high laser power. This distance is the most important parameter for
determining the frequency with which the cover slide is replaced. The
greater the distance, the less frequent the cover slide requires replacing.
In the eVa head, this distance is the biggest of any heads on the market.
Service – Basic maintenance is designed to be carried out by the
customer without requiring service from EAGLE. The entire eVa head does
not have to be removed for basic maintenance; maintenance can be
carried out with the head installed.
Protection – the eVa head has patented anti-collision protection
consisting of 4 levels. Firstly, the capacitive nozzle sensor avoids low
speed collisions. Secondly, when sheet metal is being cut the head can
slide to the side, giving the machine time to stop. Both levels 1 and 2 are
resolved within seconds by means of automatic nozzle centering. Thirdly,
in the event of a high-speed impact the cutting head will rotate on
springs, thereby protecting the lower module. Finally, the lower module
breaks off at full traversing speed (more than 100 m/min) in order to
avoid serious damage to your machine. The system is ready for use again
after less than an hour, since only the new centering module needs to be
replaced and screwed on.
Auto Focus – the auto-focus function of the eVa cutting head makes it
possible to change the focal length between cutting and burning quickly.
Eliminates the need to manually adjust the focal distance based on the
material type and thickness. This feature saves setup time and eliminates
potential mistakes.
AC – automatic centering is also an anti-collision system, because
collisions at speeds of no more than 50m/min do not affect the machine
and production efficiency. This solution reduces the number of expensive
wearing parts in the head such as ceramic parts or adapters, therefore
reducing the operating costs. The AC system prevents the beam from
being emitted when it is not centered. As a result, the entire head and its
components such as the nozzle or sensor are protected from damage,
and their service life is extended considerably.
ACS – The automatic centering and collision protection system increases
both the efficiency and safety of the machine, and reduces the cost of
potential collision damage. The system automatically centers the beam
after a collision without intervention by the operator. The patented
modular solution in the laser head consists of moving parts. These are
located below the optical system. The sensors immediately recognize
collisions due to the movement of the nozzle and the distance between
the sensor and the laser beam. If the collision has occurred at a speed of
less than 50m/min, the head centers itself automatically and continues to
operate without operator intervention. This solution is particularly
recommended for companies that intend to work unsupervised, at night
or at the weekend.
Motorized Zoom – this function automatically changes the beam
diameter at the workpieces, adapting the spot size to the material
thickness and type perfectly. Thanks to this, the EAGLE laser system
archives unbeatable performance and efficiency with any material type or
thickness.
eBeam – Function for changing the beam mode. This makes the beam
automatically change between Gaussian mode and ring mode. This is
particularly important when cutting thick components with high quality
and speed when using oxygen.
